El Camino Crucible and the Fátima Pilgrimage

A crucible tests body, mind, and soul. A pilgrimage restores the spirit. In September 2027, Valor and Faith will undertake both.

We will walk El Camino, the ancient pilgrim road into Santiago de Compostela, ending at the cathedral where Saint James has been venerated for over a thousand years. We call this El Camino Crucible, a pilgrimage for the men and women who carry the weight of post-traumatic stress long after the uniform comes off. Our COO will walk every mile in a medieval breastplate, an outward sign of what veterans and first responders carry inwardly every day, and donors will have the opportunity to place their mark on the armor itself, in support of the brothers and sisters Valor and Faith was built to serve.

From Santiago we will travel to Fátima, Portugal, the small parish where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to three shepherd children in 1917, drawing millions of pilgrims ever since to a place where words run out and only stillness remains.

The trip is anchored to the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel, patron of soldiers, police officers, and warriors of all kinds, the same patron the Royal Brotherhood has carried for nearly nine centuries. We share this sacred road with the veterans and first responders we serve, and we invite those who are called to walk it with us.
